Danbury Museum & Historical Society
Located in downtown Danbury at the southern end of Main Street, the museum campus comprises five buildings that hold significant historical value.
The museum continues to be committed to presenting Danbury’s rich history and offers a wide variety of programs featuring local historians, authors, artists, and musicians who perform at the Marian Anderson Studio, home of Marian Anderson, a famous singer who had a large impact on the Civil Rights Movement. Tours of the Studio are offered as part of the museum’s Historic Buildings tours, providing visitors with a glimpse into the life and legacy of the remarkable artist and activist that Anderson was.
Resources illuminating the varied narratives of Black individuals in Danbury throughout history can also be found at the museum. These resources provide information about the rich cultural legacy and historical and developmental achievements made by Black communities in Danbury.
This site is open to the public.
